Update 2022: The Cambodian Buddhist Society of DC has built a stupa next to the temple, and a Vietnamese Buddhist temple (unrelated) is almost done construction across the street.
Atlanta Buddhist Temple (Cambodian / Khmer Temple), Stone Mountain GA, 2014

2022 Update: This temple closed in 2019 after some financial disputes with the property owners, and was sold subsequently. (The Vietnamese temple literally next door, Chua Linh Mu, is not related.) There are several other Cambodian temples in Atlanta, see our page at https://georgiameditation.org/cambodian-khmer-buddhism-georgia.html

2022 update: The oldest Cambodian Buddhist Society in Georgia, this temple is still hosting great events! Lots of photos on their Facebook page, and more at Atlanta Buddhism’s temple listing.

Wat Greensboro, Greensboro NC, 2014
2022 Update: I’ve realized one of my slight annoyances is when places call themselves something like “Greensboro Buddhist Center” but then have no activities in English. Not sure if this personal feeling is justified though!

Wat Sao Sokh San, Wellford SC 2014
It still amazes me that there are Asian-American organizations seemingly in the middle of nowhere, especially Buddhist ones managing to survive in the rural Bible Belt of the Deep South. Hopefully the many discriminations they face will gradually turn into tolerance and diversity.
