New Mexico

Got a chance to visit Albuquerque New Mexico! Here are the adventures there. Identified the following monastic-led Buddhist groups: (As much as I don’t like ethnic labels or identifiers, they still remain largely divided in this way)  Three Vietnamese Buddhist temples; two Thai Buddhist temples; one Lao Buddhist temple; and a handful of Tibetan Buddhist centers.

Chua Van Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Albuquerque NM:

Interestingly, this place seems to be cobbled together from several smaller (and older) buildings. The largest is the temple, then there is a kitchen and a dining one, and a small one for the GDPT youth group / lion dance.

KTC Tibetan Buddhist Center – Albuquerque Karma Tegsum Choling, a Tibetan Buddhist center in the Karma Kagyu Lineage under the 17th Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje.

It appeared this place is really like the back “house” of someone’s property, and nowhere near as big or nice as the Albuquerque New Kadampa Tradition center (unfortunately!) I guess it helps to have a cash infusion from the Chinese government!
